What Joy We Have Through Jesus

Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. Hebrews 2:14-15 (NLT)

Joy is the weathered, beaten, withstanding Truth that we have hope because of Heaven, because of Jesus. Joy cannot be extinguished without our consent. Joy weathers, perseveres, and permeates our lives. It binds us to the cross, and requires we pick it up, with a cheerful heart, each day.

Joy is deep-rooted in faith, faith in love, and love in Truth. Praise Jesus for being the living, breathing definition of Truth.

Jesus is God’s love for us in flesh form. Because of Jesus, we have hope. Because we have hope, we have faith. Because of faith we have Love. Because we have Love- Jesus Christ in our lives- we have joy.

Let your roots sink deep into the fact that you are loved fully, perfectly, sacredly, radiantly, lavishly, powerfully, beautifully. You are fearfully and exquisitely made. God’s works are wonderful. He knows you full well (Psalm 139). He knows your deepest darkest thoughts. He knows your wild side. He knows your pride. He knows of your heart’s desires. He knows you. He loves you- more than the stars in the sky, more than the mighty waves of the sea- Jesus’ love expands beyond the realm of this universe.

Consider it pure joy that God’s amazing grace and perfect love saved a couple of wretches like you and me. Oh how he loves. Oh what joy we have to harbor in our hearts, unfold in our lives, and weave into our children’s spirits; because of the Truth incarnate- Jesus Christ.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the hope of Heaven. It brings me unrelenting joy to know that I will experience the rapture of your glory someday. I cannot wait to meet you face to face, Jesus. In the here and now, help me to be faithful and steadfast in joy. In Jesus’ righteous name, amen.

Steps of Faith:

  • Reread today’s scripture. As Hebrews 2:14-15 says, we have been set free from our fear of death. For eternity spent in the glory of the Father’s presence is ours to behold through Salvation. Oh what joy. Oh what love we have through Jesus. Because of the hope we have in Heaven, choose joy today.

  • Review and meditate on Romans 15:13:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
