Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Psalm 127:3

The Gift of Children

Children are truly a gift, a heritage from the Lord (Ps. 127:3). Yet, there are days that feel particularly challenging. Some moments can seem lonely and overwhelming. We sometimes feel stretched paper-thin in our roles as mothers.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

The Refinement of Motherhood

Could it be that the Lord is refining us through motherhood? The good, the bad, the hard, and the ugly—all of these experiences are shaping us. Jesus may be molding us into unique, beautiful instruments for His plans and purposes. Furthermore, He could be nurturing our character and deepening the roots of our Spiritual Fruit.

I believe it’s not just possible but probable that God uses motherhood to cultivate beautiful attributes within our hearts and lives. Amid the chaotic moments, beauty exists beyond the mess.

The Shared Struggles of Moms

You're not alone in your struggles, friend. Many moms juggling little ones are fighting the constant battle of toys scattered everywhere, crumbs on the floor, and blankets and pillows piled high. Likewise, moms of teens often feel like chauffeurs, driving their kids from one activity to another.

I know that one day, we’ll look back and miss it all. We’ll long for the baby snuggles and think back to blanket and pillow forts. With bittersweet tears in our eyes, we may wish we could relive those moments, even just for a day. We will miss the late-night conversations with our teenagers, where they share their thoughts and dreams. We will miss being needed in those little and big ways.

Relishing the Present

Let's cherish these good old days that are unfolding right now. We can soak them in with the sponges of our hearts, ensuring we remember them forever. It’s crucial to practice being present and attuned to our children’s hearts.

Let’s ask God for the gift of perception. We should pray for Jesus to grant us eyes to see the beauty in our everyday lives. This current season of motherhood is fleeting, and the days are slipping away much too fast.

Can we just stop the ticking clock? Unfortunately, we cannot. However, we can maximize every moment, hour, and minute we have together.

The Importance of Making Every Moment Count

These days will simply not last. This is our one and only motherhood experience. Let’s make it count! Our goal should be to leave an eternal imprint on our children’s hearts—one that they can revisit throughout their lives.

Trusting in God’s Plan

In this journey of motherhood, we are not alone. We can lean on our faith to guide us through the challenges and joys alike. By trusting in God's plan, we can find strength in His support and love.

Dear Jesus,

Please give me eyes to see beyond the mess. Help me to recognize the beauty blossoming before my eyes in my children’s lives. Bless me with the gift of perception.

Lord, I don’t want to miss a thing. Help me to be a present mom. Help me to be a faithful mom. Help me to be a grateful mom.

God, give me wisdom. Give me vision. Grant me eyes to see your plans and purposes unfolding. In Jesus’ faithful name I pray, amen.

In conclusion, embracing motherhood is a journey filled with challenges and immense beauty. Each moment is a chance to grow in love, patience, and understanding. Let's cherish the gift we have been given and strive to create lasting memories.
