Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Ps. 37:4 (ESV)

If you're anything like me, there are little things that break your heart every day. We live in a broken world full of sorrow and tears due to sin.

But what if instead of doom and despair, we chose to delight ourselves in the Lord? What if we chose to praise God anyway?—to worship Him through prayer, through continuing to count our blessings, through constantly recalibrating our perspectives with His own.

I think that slowly but surely, the broken pieces of our hearts would begin to mend. I think that God would transplant His own desires for our lives inside of our hearts.

How do I know this to be true? Because I've lived it.

When we delight ourselves in the Lord, He doesn't give us every fantasy we've ever desired. But rather, He transforms something inside of us according to His worthy Word and wonderful Will.

His plans are good. Life can be excruciatingly hard, but we serve a God who is extraordinarily wonderful. His ways are not always our ways, but they are even better.

When we choose to worship Christ through the storms of our lives, the skies begin to clear. We begin to notice glimmers of sunlight peeking through the clouds by refusing to worry, but instead worshipping God by turning to His Word and through prayer.

His ways are higher than our own.

You can't stop a storm, but you can choose to be prepared in advance with the umbrella of God's Word. And when the sky opens up and droplets begin to fall, we can choose to dance in the rain.

I hope you dance.
