Reminders for Your Mama Heart

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17-18


Some days of life are heavy and ladle excessive demands on our plates. In these difficult moments, on the hard days, sometimes what I need most is good, old-fashioned Truth from God’s Word that never goes out of style. Sometimes what I need is God-breathed Truth transpired into my heart from a friend. Can I be that friend for you today?

Here are five simple reminders for your Mama heart of God’s faithfulness, love, and hand in your life: 


  1. God chose you to be the Mama of your children.


Your eyes saw my unformed body;

    all the days ordained for me were written in your book

    before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16


  1. He has good plans for you and your family.


For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11


  1. Because of Jesus, we can “laugh at the days to come.”


She is clothed with strength and dignity;

    she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25


  1. Outward beauty is fleeting, but a beautiful heart is pleasing to Jesus.


Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;

    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30


  1. Christ’s grace is sufficient. His mercies are new every morning!


Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23


The Lord doesn’t look at the outward appearance of our houses, bodies, or lives. He looks at our hearts. Are our hearts positioned to please and glorify the Creator? Are we giving motherhood and life our all out of reverence for Christ? These are some questions we can ask ourselves before getting onto ourselves about outward, external things.

Mama, your heart is beautiful. And that’s what matters most to Jesus! Continue to cultivate the Fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). Pick one trait you want to focus on today.

May the light of Christ sparkle inside of you. May it provide warmth and direction to those closest to you. May people be drawn in from afar, because of the joy of Jesus inside of you.


Dear Jesus,

I know that you have good plans for me and for my family. I praise you for your faithfulness and hand over my life. 

Jesus, thank you for reminders from your Word that I am loved, chosen, special, and purposeful. Thank you for the reminder that you desire my heart above all else. Help me to live faithfully because of your great love for me. Help me to overflow with your love and bless the hearts of my children and husband. 

Thank you for being the ultimate source of joy in my life. On days that are painted gray, God, I pray that you would open my eyes to view the world in technicolor because of the ultimate hope I have of being reunited with you in Heaven. Thank you, Jesus! In your powerful name I pray, amen.
