The Pursuit of Holiness
I love watching my children play. It is one of my all time favorite pastimes. I have two precious, sweet toddlers, a boy and a girl, who love life, Dada and Mama, and their loveys. I love my children beyond what I can fully describe. From the moment they were laid upon my chest in the hospital after giving birth, I was head over heels, totally, deeply in love. When I think about how much I love my children, I cannot help but think about how much God loves me. The love of a mother pales in comparison to the great love that Jesus has for us. Still, I love the analogy of a mother’s love being like that of my Heavenly Father’s. It is something tangible that I can relate to. However, the love of Jesus far surpasses any knowledge or earthly understanding we have of life, love, and the pursuit of happiness in our lives.
“The pursuit of happiness” should exist as “the pursuit of holiness” in the minds and hearts of Christ followers. We are to live holy lives for Jesus, and strive to stay away from acts of sin. We must live in the light through prayer, God’s Word, and fellowship with other believers. In living holy lives we set an example of godliness for our children.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
God loves us regardless of our outward sin or obedience. Does God care that we walk obediently, in accordance with his Word and will? -Absolutely, one hundred percent, yes! But God loves us nonetheless. Despite our tendencies to sin, Jesus offers us his love and grace in full.
Ask the Lord to bring to light anything that is hindering you from living a sold out life of obedience for Jesus. Repent, walk in a new light, and experience the graceful fresh air of redemption. Ask the Holy Spirit to surround you on all sides of your life.
God’s forgiveness is freeing. Like a beautiful forest hike, the sound of a baby’s laughter, or a brilliant rainbow in the sky, God’s forgiveness releases a newfound glorious sensation that allows us to live fully, and experience the rapture of joy from God’s presence in our lives.
Allow God’s Word to refine your life. Dwell on the scriptures. Live with the Fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control overflowing out of your life, cascading down into and edifying the lives of others. Live a life of sold out surrender for Jesus. He loves you. He roots for you. He has made a way for you. He wants you to walk in obedience in return. Live a life free from sin and darkness, and walk in the light of Salvation, God’s love and forgiveness each day.
Thank you for your great love. Thank you for dying on the cross so I might live a free life, and have an eternal connection with you. I pray that I will walk in obedience to your Word and will. Reveal any hidden sin in my life that needs to be brought to light. I love you Lord Jesus. Amen
