So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Do you ever feel overwhelmed in motherhood? Like perhaps you were not cut out for this mom gig? -I do at times! I want you to know that you are not alone in your feelings of inadequacy. God will meet you in the midst of your struggles and shortcomings and cover you with his grace.
In motherhood and in life, the Lord gives us all that we need. “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want…” (Psalm 23). Why do you think the Psalmist was stating these words? Was it because he was beaming with confidence? -No! He was overwhelmed, anxiety ridden, and afraid. He was writing this Psalm as a steady reminder that the Lord God is our Shepherd, he protects and provides for us all that we need.
We can be grateful because although we may feel overwhelmed, God gives us exactly what we need. We have the Holy Spirit, guiding us along life’s way. Jesus is our strength and strong tower. Jesus is our portion and daily bread. Jesus is our Rock and firm foundation.
The Lord goes before us in motherhood and in life. He paves a way and perfectly provides for our every need. The Lord God is mighty to uphold our lives by the shoe strings of his strength.
Although we might feel like we are living on a shoe-string budget, in terms of having margin and free time, we are doing God’s holy work ladies! Don’t lose sight. Motherhood is such a precious sacrifice, and we can be grateful because God is sanctifying us throughout the process of us living to help our children become little people. We are raising up warriors, men and women who will live for Jesus and lead others to the cross. Don’t lose sight of what a wonderful sacrifice it is that you are making in dying to yourself and raising your children.
Dear Jesus,
What a wonderful privilege it is to have children, to be able to shepherd the little ones of your Kingdom. Help me to do your holy work daily in raising up my children to know and love you. Help me not to lose sight of all that I am doing to honor you in the process of motherhood. Remind me of how worthy of a task it is to be a mom. In Jesus, wonderful name, amen.
Steps of Faith:
Speak these words of truth, “I am an amazing mom. I am doing the Lord’s holy work in raising up men and women who know and love Jesus. Thank you Jesus for this privilege. Thank you for my children. Strengthen me.”
