Mom-Ambassador of Christ
Updated: Aug 15

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21
What does it mean to be an ambassador of Christ as a mom? The definition of ambassador is: “a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity.” Sometimes on Instagram, I have companies reach out to me asking me to be an ambassador for their brand and products. You probably have experienced this as well. In the early stages of these companies reaching out to ordinary people like me to promote their brand, I fell prey to an eye-catching jewelry company, and beame an ambassador. I purchased some of their jewelry at a heavily discounted rate, and took selfies of myself wearing their bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Looking back, I am not even quite sure what was in it for me (other than cheap jewelry- I have always been easily taken in by jewelry.) It is almost embarrassing to admit, but I was one of those people yall! Nowadays I know better, and am way more cautious in my Instagram endeavors. But back when these “ambassador” promotions were brand new, it seemed exciting.
We are to be ambassadors for Christ and make our lives, in living for Him, look exciting. In the most genuine way, we should flaunt the Fruits of the Spirit and give God glory. People should notice something different about our lives because of the spiritual qualities we possess. Everlasting hope, joy that cannot be snuffed out, and a perspective that far surpasses our circumstances: may your life be permeated with Christ for the world to notice. May people taste your salt, and realize the radiance of Christ’s light in you because of the way their lives are illuminated and hearts are uplifted whenever you’re around.
The people closest to us should recognize Jesus in us. Our children should feel Christ’s warmth through us. Our spouses should notice us living from his love through humility, acts of service, and being an encouraging light.
Unlike my jewelry ambassador days, being an ambassador for Jesus is not about the external. Rather, it is about the internal, the conditions of our hearts. We need to stay in tune and in touch with Jesus, being joyful always, and praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). This might seem a little extreme but it is what we are called to as followers and believers in Jesus.
I am currently reading an amazing book for moms about prayer called Praying Moms: Making Prayer the First and Best Response to Motherhood. The author stresses how to press into prayer. When Jesus lays something or someone on your heart, pray for that person or event. Whatever seems to be popping into your mind- perhaps it has been placed there for a purpose. Press into it. Submit your thoughts to God through prayer.
Being an ambassador for Christ as a mom has a lot to do with prayer. No matter how busy we get, or how tired we are, we can continue to pray. Become a prayer warrior as a mom. Pray about what comes to mind. Perhaps your prayers were meant to be heard, and uplifted to the Father for such a time as this. We can partner with the Holy Spirit in doing God’s Kingdom work, through prayer.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for the privilege of being your ambassador. May I represent you beautifully in all that I do. Thank you God for the gift of prayer. May my prayers be pleasing to the Father. Lord, I want to partner with you in your Kingdom work. This is my heart’s desire. To you be all glory, honor, and recognition. In Jesus’ heavenly name, amen.
Steps of Faith:
Pay attention to your thoughts today. Press into what God is laying on your heart. Pray.
