Faith Has A Name

By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned. Hebrews 11:29

Hebrews 11 is often referred to as “The Hall of Faith.” This well-known chapter of the Bible brushes on the stories of salient Bible characters and rehashes their faithful feats. Among these faithful renditions is the story of the Israelites after being freed from their bondage as slaves to the Egyptians.

The Israelites passed through the Red Sea, on dry land. Their faith in God’s divine provision delivered them. They believed in the Lord's miraculous power- his strength over their own, God’s way alone. The Egyptians tried to do so (in their own strength) and were drowned.

God opens doors to those who walk in faith. Jesus meets us in our weakness, and overpowers our inabilities with his consummate strength (2 Corinthians 12:9). He meets our humility with his fortified wisdom and incomprehensible might.

Faith has a multifaceted connotation. Its abilities are seamless. Faith hopes. Faith believes. Faith endures all things. Of all the things in this world that can be taken away, our faith cannot be shaken. Hebrews 11 begins to explain faith’s capabilities:

  • Faith enables us with Heavenly power.

  • Faith moves mountains and parts Red Sea roads in our lives.

  • Faith builds testimonies.

  • Faith creates worlds.

  • Faith fully honors God.

  • Faith binds us to Christ’s righteousness.

  • Faith grows new life.

  • Faith gives strength and enables us to produce good things.

  • Faith continues its work after death.

  • Faith leaves a legacy.

  • Faith rescues us.

  • Faith humbles us.

  • Faith produces miracles in our hearts and everyday lives.

My daughter has faith in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. She has faith in Jesus but does not fully grasp his magnificence. She believes in him but hasn’t accepted him into her heart yet. She is only four years old. It is my hope and prayer that she comes to know and love the Lord for herself. It is my heart’s cry that she develops a steadfast faith that matures over time, trials, and through love. This is my prayer for all of my children- that they will come to know, adore, and live for Jesus, wholeheartedly.

For my children’s faith to come to fruition, I must model a heart set on fire for Jesus. I must illustrate what reliance on Jesus’ light looks like. I must demonstrate what it is to have unwavering faith. I must take up my cross daily, and run this race with all my might. Through life's thick and thin moments, I must persevere in faith.

To know Jesus fully, we must believe in him fully. Even when the fog of life surrounds us, we must live our lives for Christ. Our childlike belief in the Lord, through all things, including the curveballs this life throws, sets an example and paves a path.

Faith leaves a legacy. Through Salvation, our hope in Jesus and steadfast endurance through trials provide an arrow that guides us and points others to the Way Maker.

Faith inspires. Our faith leads us in the way everlasting and provides light to others.

Faith is a sensation. Let’s lead the next generation and be an inspiration for Jesus!

Faith has a name. His name is Jesus. Let’s replace the word “faith” with “Jesus” from our list of faith’s capabilities. Without Jesus, faith is powerless. But with Jesus, faith can conquer our fears, tame the lions in our lives, and give our blind hearts sight.

  • Jesus enables us with Heavenly power.

  • Jesus moves mountains and parts Red Sea roads in our lives.

  • Jesus builds testimonies.

  • Jesus creates worlds.

  • Jesus fully honors God.

  • Jesus binds us to the Lord’s righteousness.

  • Jesus grows new life.

  • Jesus gives us strength and enables us to produce good things.

  • Jesus continued his work after death.

  • Jesus left a legacy.

  • Jesus rescued us.

  • Jesus’ example of humility humbles us.

  • Jesus produces miracles in our hearts and everyday lives.

Dear Jesus,

I praise you for making a way. Thank you for bringing my faith to life through your death and resurrection. You alone are holy, mighty, and worthy of all praise. In moments of desperation may I always look to you and cling tight to your hand. May the light of my faith forever shine because of what you did on the cross. In Jesus’ risen name, amen.

Amen! Yes, wouldn't it be nice if our children lived fruitful lives of faith someday? It will all be Jesus' doing because I fail in many ways daily. Praise God for his grace! We can gather strength from his grace that fuels our faith. Thanks for reading friend. <3
