Hidden in Holiness

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

There’s something holy in living a life hidden in Christ. In a day and age that chases after social media accolades, widespread popularity, and fame, it is a humble reminder that God grows us in the hidden, unseen seasons of our lives. Motherhood is one of those seasons.

It might seem like a thankless task, but when we press into providing our presence, the Lord multiplies our heart offering. Like Jesus fed the five thousand using a few fish and loaves of bread, God can use what we have to offer when we give him our all.

Giving our all in our homes matters. It matters to our husbands. It matters to our children. It matters to the Lord God.

The world sends the message, “Hustle,” “Slay,” “Do you anyway.” But God’s heart is in the hidden, unseen margins of our lives. He grows us in the getting there.

So if you are feeling discouraged at where you are in life, know that God sees you and cares. Jesus spent thirty years of his life leading an ordinary life before he stepped into the light of public ministry. Your behind-the-scenes efforts as a mother, wife, and homemaker matter!

I would love to be able to promise you that God’s plans are big and grand. But this is not always the case. Sometimes our lives don’t pan out as we had planned. But God’s ways are better. He works all things together for the good of those He loves. He works all things together for His glory (Rom. 8:28). This is a truth we can hang our “Mama” caps on at the end of the day.

God equips us, builds our character, and develops our perseverance in the hidden years. Every day we are becoming more like the woman God had in mind before time began. Let’s humbly, gracefully, and faithfully pursue our roles as mothers and daughters of the King. Let's be so focused on becoming hidden in holiness that pleasing Jesus is the only thing that matters.
